Bills settle text-messaging lawsuit

Buffalo, N.Y. -- The Bills have settled a class-action lawsuit linked to excessive text messaging.

Fans who received mobile text alerts from the team will share $2.5 million in credits at Ralph Wilson Stadium and at the teams online store.

The lawsuit alleged the Bills sent more text messages to subscribers than originally disclosed, according to Buffalo Business First.

A former Western New York resident who now lives in Florida filed the lawsuit in late 2012 because he claimed the team violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
