Jewish community honors unsung heroes
Brighton, N.Y. -- The Jewish community in Rochester reflected on the horrors of one of history's ugliest crimes: the Holocaust.
The JCC played host to a day of remembrance Sunday.
One of the keynote speakers at the event was Louis Philippe Mendes, whose grandfather helped thousands of people escape France during World War II from invading Nazi armies.
Other speakers were descendants of those whose lives were saved because of the actions of Mendes' grandfather.
