List of casino bidders to be released
Albany, N.Y. -- A full list of the companies that paid a $1 million application fee to earn the right to build a casino in New York state is expected to be released Thursday.
Chili-based developer Wilmorite applied, hoping to build a $350 million casino, hotel, resort and spa just off the Thruway in Tyre, Seneca County.
Caesars Entertainment also applied, vying to build a casino 50 miles north of New York City. Trading Cove New York, Empire Resorts and a group proposing a casino at the site of the old Nevele resort have also submitted application fees.
A state constitutional amendment passed last year authorized casinos in the Albany-Saratoga area, the Catskills and the Southern Tier. Selections will be made this fall.
