Boy injured in crash with illegally parked car

Manchester, N.Y. -- An Ontario County boy was injured when the car he was riding in hit an illegally parked car Tuesday.

Sheriffs deputies said Toby Scott, 11, of Clifton Springs, complained of pain in his chest, head and ribs. His status at Clifton Spring Hospital & Clinic was unavailable, but police said he did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

Scott was riding with Donald Preston, 46, on Armington Road in Manchester around 2 p.m. Tuesday when their car went over a small hill and collided with a vehicle parked on the shoulder facing the wrong direction and partially blocking the lane. Their car then crossed the road and hit a tree, according to police.

Police ticketed the driver of the parked car, Donald Wallace, 74, of Manchester, for failure to keep right. He was scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
