Family seeks out woman who helped in fatal crash

Holley, N.Y. -- The Greece Police Department identified the man killed in the crash Friday on West Ridge Road as Andrew Tarwacki, 39, of Holley.

A family friend of Tarwacki said he was very much loved. They are devastated by the incident but were comforted to know he was not alone in his final moments.

13WHAM spoke with Lori Canny, who went to Tarwacki's aid in his final moments. Canny, trained in first aid, tried to do what she could to help him, but said he had suffered traumatic injuries.

Feeling hopeless, Canny comforted Tarwacki and said, "Hang in there buddy, help is on the way. Please, you know, we're with you. Just hang in there; hold in there. Help is on the way."

But by the time first responders arrived, Tarwacki died.

The family friend 13WHAM spoke with said the family wants to get in touch with Canny. Again, she said it was comforting to know Canny was there for Tarwacki.

To that, Canny said she only did what she would've hoped for if Tarwacki was her family member.

We are respecting the family's request for privacy during this difficult time.

Police said the cause of the crash is still being investigated.
