Vacant house fire considered suspicious

Rochester, N.Y. -- Firefighters said a fire on the citys north side is being considered suspicious.

Crews were called to a vacant home on Gilmore Street around 2 a.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found flames shooting from the first and second floors and called for backup.

Even though no one lives in the house, firefighters were concerned about the possibility of the flames spreading.

Neighboring homes were not damaged, but firefighters said damage to the vacant structure was severe.

It took about 30 minutes for crews to get the fire under control. No one was hurt.
