Rochester, N.Y.- Testimony has resumed in the trial of the woman accused of falsifying records to buy guns used in the Christmas Eve ambush on West Webster firefighters.

Prosecutors say William Spengler paid Dawn Nguyen $4,000 to buy two guns which he later used to kill his sister and firefighters Thomasz Kaczowka and Michael Chiapperini. Two other first responders were wounded.
The guns were purchased in 2010 and contain Nguyen's signature.
Prosecutors say she also checked off a box indicating she understood it was a felony to buy the weapons for another person.
Defense attorneys say she purchased the guns for her own protection and that they were later stolen.
In a heated debate outside the presence of the jury, Nguyen's attorneys wanted to question investigators about a suicide note Spengler left at the scene. The two and a half page note implicates Nguyen's mother Dawn Welcher as the purchaser of the guns.
Police investigated Welcher but ruled her out as a suspect. Judge Tom Moran ruled that even the mention of the note would lead jurors to speculate about what was in it.
Nguyen has been charged with one count of falsifying documents which is punishable by up to four years in prison. The judge could also opt for probation and no jail time.
