Man charged in multiple Tops robberies

Rochester, N.Y. -- The man arrested for robbing a local grocery store before leading police on a high-speed chase last month has been arrested for robbing two of the stores other Rochester-area locations.

Police said Tyrelis Austin, 22, of Rochester, robbed the Tops store in Avon March 28. Wednesday, federal prosecutors charged him with robbing the Henrietta location Nov. 25, 2012, and the Greece location on Mt. Read Boulevard July 29, 2013.

Following the robbery in Avon, police chased Austin on Interstate 390 North until his car crashed into a ditch near the Chili Avenue exit.

Police said Austin admitted his involvement in all three incidents in a statement after his March arrest.

Austin faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 if convicted.
