Village of Lyons plans its next move

Lyons, N.Y. -- The Village of Lyons is looking to its future after residents voted to dissolve the village into the town last month.

The village is still trying to sort out what its next move will be.

Village Mayor Terry VanStean said the town and the village are working together during this transition with a joint task force.

The town is discussing adopting some of the village's policies.

And there's still a question of what will happen to the village personnel.

"That's one of my main concerns because this is their livelihood that's being impacted," VanStean said. "So I would hope there's going to be some positions for them, but that is going to be determined by the town and their needs going forward."

The next board meeting is scheduled for May 13.

VanStean said at that meeting he expects board members to come to a decision about keeping the consultant that has guided the village through the dissolution process so far.
