Cronut creator strikes again

New York - The cronut creator is back combining two separate but equal foods into one jacked-up, hybrid food creation. This time Dominique Ansel mashed up waffles and affogato, unveiling the "waffogato" to the world on Instagram this morning.

"Created the #Waffogato for Taste of a Nation tonight (and soon to be in store when it warms up)," he posted. "Vanilla ice cream waffle with Belgium waffle bits, slightly salted, and topped with maple-syrup espresso poured on top. As the ice cream melts, little tapioca pearls are revealed and float in the melted ice cream espresso sauce."

Tasked with the job of coming up with a breakfast-themed item, Ansel thought about breakfast items like coffee and waffles, his spokeswoman Amy Ma said.

"It's sweet, salty and bitter," she said.

The bakery plans to launch the item Friday, May 9, for Mother's Day weekend. Get ready to wait in line once again.
