Obama speaks about raising minimum wage

Ann Arbor, Mich. -- President Obama spoke to a crowd at the University of Michigan Wednesday about raising minimum wage and that it would not solve all of the country's economic challenges.

President Obama has attempted to garner support for his plan to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. He said that no one working full time should have to raise his or her family in poverty.

"There are always going to be folks who do critical work, who bust their tails everyday -- airport workers, restaurant workers and hospital workers and retail sales people who deserve an honest day's pay for an honest day's work," Obama said.

Republicans oppose the plan and some Democrats fear the plan could hurt their chances among business-minded voters.
