Former McQuaid president dies

Rochester, N.Y. A former president of McQuaid Jesuit High School died Friday in the Bronx.

Rev. James J. Fischer, S.J. served as president of McQuaid from 1992 to 2003 as the longest serving president in the schools history. He remained at McQuaid as chancellor until 2012.

The New Jersey native was ordained in 1955 and served as president of St. Peters Prep in Jersey City and Regis High School in Manhattan before coming to McQuaid.

Rev. Fischer was 90 years old.

A memorial mass will be held in Rochester at an undetermined date.
