Palmyra man recovering after steel accident

Rochester, N.Y. - The brother of a Palmyra man who was pinned under 10,000 lbs. of steel last week said his brother's condition is improving as he recovers at Strong Memorial Hospital.

John Washburn, 48, became trapped under steel at the Pacemaker Steel and Pipe Company in Manchester Friday night.

Washburn remained in intensive care, but was in critical but stable condition.

His injuries include a fractured pelvis and a crack in his spine.

He was able to move his legs and is expected to be in the hospital for at least six more weeks.
