Prayers for Allegany native gunned down

by Evan White

Allegany, N.Y. -- It came as a shock to friends and family. One of their own, 34-year-old Patrick Miller, was among the nineteen people shot by a gunman at Fort Hood on Wednesday.

It was one of the gut wrenching situations, said Mike Wilber, Millers former football coach.
The Buffalo News reported Thursday afternoon that Millers condition has improved.

The Associated Press reported no more deaths are expected, according to a doctor who had treated some of those injured in the attack.

Being attacked at home, not in a combat situation, its just as devastating as anything else in your home town, said Alexander Zehnder, LTC and Professor of Military Science at St. Bonaventure University.

Three soldiers were killed, and sixteen others left injured before the gunman killed himself.
We hope that he'll come out of the other side of this and continue to do great things, added Zehnder.
