Local WWII veteran posthumously honored

Rochester, N.Y. -- A local World War II veteran was posthumously honored Monday for his service.

Lili Frindel reached out to Congresswoman Louise Slaughter to secure a replacement for the Purple Heart her late father, Edward, earned. A search revealed he was entitled to several more medals, including a Bronze Star.

While in the Army, Edward Frindel parachuted into Normandy with the 82nd Airborne during the allied invasion of Europe. He was wounded and held captive by hostile forces.
