Kali Poulton remembered 20 years later

East Rochester, N.Y. -- Friday marks 20 years since the disappearance of Kali Poulton, a 4-year-old girl whose saga made national headlines.

Poulton vanished from her townhouse on the border on Pittsford and East Rochester May 23, 1994.

Her neighbor Mark Christie was ultimately convicted for her abduction and strangling her to death. Poulton's remains were found Aug. 9, 1996 at a building on Humboldt Street in Rochester, where Christie worked as a guard.

Christie has since been convicted in the 1988 murder of a Hilton woman, which he didn't admit to until the man falsely convicted of that crime was exonerated in 2010.

Poulton's face appeared on missing children's posters across the country, and her story was featured on national programs like "America's Most Wanted" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Her case has been credited with bringing a new level of awareness about missing children to the Rochester area.
