Fundraiser held for injured teen

Penfield, N.Y. -- Friends, family and co-workers held a benefit fundraiser Sunday for a local teenager injured in a car crash last month.

Solomiya Blekot, 17, a senior at Webster Schroeder High School, remained in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. Blekot was injured April 26 when the car she was riding in slammed into the side of a dumpster on Holt Road in Webster.

Blekots co-workers at Cams Pizzeria in Penfield, where the fundraiser was held, said they wanted to do whatever they could to help Blekot and her family, especially with medical bills.

The driver in the crash, Vincent Scaccia, 18, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and vehicular assault.
