Boating advisory for Canandaigua and Honeoye Lakes
Canandaigua, N.Y. -- The Ontario County Sheriff's Office is reminding boaters of an advisory in effect on both Canandaigua and Honeoye lakes resulting from high water levels caused by heavy rains.
Deputies said boaters should restrict their vessel speeds to 5 mph while floating debris remains in the lakes. Boaters are asked to operate their vessels far away from shore to avoid docks that may be submerged and to limit potential shoreline erosion, Sheriff Phil Povero said.
The Marine Patrol of the sheriff's office will continue to monitor boat traffic on both lakes.
