Police: Local teen kidnapped by Minnesota man
St. Paul, Minn. -- A Minnesota man is charged with kidnapping a teenager from Rochester, who he met on a phone chat line.
During the investigation, Washington County Sheriff's deputies said Michael Goerlich, 53, was found with a female in his residence. Goerlich and another resident were taken into custody.
The female, Amber Goolsby, 14, who had been reported missing in Rochester, is now in protective custody and is expected to return to Rochester in the near future.
Court papers reveal Goerlich and Goolsby met a year ago through a chatroom. Police say the two arranged to meet on Monday in Rochester.
On the way to Goerlich's home in Landfall, Minnesota, police said Goerlich broke Goolsby's phone.
Police said Goolsby was able to find a phone once she got to the suspect's home and called for help.
Goerlich is charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of false imprisonment. His bail is set at $1 million.
Detectives with both police departments continue to investigate this case.
