City bans crime box on job applications

Rochester, N.Y. -- Those seeking a job with the City of Rochester or its contractors will no longer be asked whether they have been convicted of a crime on job applications.

City Council voted to remove the check-off box that asks that question on Tuesday night.

The city and its contractors would still have the right to run background checks as part of the hiring process.
