Park closed and events moved due to rain

This week's rain is wreaking havoc on area parks and causing the Monroe County Parks Department to cancel or move events.

Highland Park is open. The Lilac Festival was closed Friday, and will re-open on Saturday and Sunday.

Ellison Park will be closed this weekend. All shelter and lodge rentals will be moved to other parks or refunded. The dog park is also closed. Sunday's March of Dimes walk is now being moved to Park Point at RIT.

The north end of Powder Mills Park is closed. Shelter and lodge rentals will be moved to other parks or refunded. The Pittsford Rotary Fishing Derby is being moved to the Fish Hatchery Pond. The south end of the park is open.

At the Genesee Valley Park, the River Bend Shelter is closed. Rentals will be moved to other parks. The Cystic Fibrosis Walk will go on, as scheduled, on Sunday.

In Churchville and Black Creek, all sports fields are closed and athletic leagues have been cancelled.
