House committee approves communal mail boxes

Washington -- Mail being delivered to your door could be a thing of the past.

A house committee approved a bill Wednesday to have communal or curbside boxes for delivery in neighborhoods.

If it becomes a law, the change would happen in the next decade.

Supporters said it will save the struggling U.S. Postal Service more than $2 billion a year.

The chance has support from Republicans but it's opposed by Democrats.
