Port developer says he’s listening
by Cody Combs
Rochester, N.Y. One of the major companies chosen to develop the Port of Rochester is trying to clear up what it calls misconceptions about its plans for the port.
What people have seen in the past is a programmatic diagram, said Gregory Weykamp of Edgewater Resources, based out of Michigan. From a design process were just beginning.
Weykamp spent much of his time Thursday at a meeting with more than 200 people expressing concern about some of the initial photos released to the public.
Give us the opportunity to present our vision and listen to folks, he said. This is the beginning of the process, certainly not the end.
Weykamp said the initial photos are not by any means, what the final product will look like, and presented 4 sets of 27 photos to those at Thursdays meeting. Those at the meeting received green dots to stick on the photos they liked, and red dots for the photos they didnt like.
Its a visual way for people to communicate with us, he added. We had a huge responseit was great.
Construction is not expected at the Port of Rochester for at least one year according Weykamp.
It will be a slow, controlled process, he said. Well continue to build the process from there.
