Fundraiser held for philanthropist battling cancer

Gates, N.Y. -- Debbie Milgate-Moyer is a powerful force in our community when it comes to fundraising.

Now, the community is looking to return the favor.

"Debbie needs our help," said friend Anne Moscicki. "She's fighting leukemia. It's an awful disease and, as you can imagine, the medical bills just build up even with insurance, so we're here to help her out with that."

Milgate-Moyer is battling leukemia, but she isn't doing it alone.

Milgate-Moyer, who has raised more than $500,000 for Golisano Children's Hospital alone, had a fundraiser thrown for her Sunday.

A benefit at Rick's Prime Rib House in Gates included a bunch of local restaurants and bakeries chipping in.

All money raised helps pay for Milgate-Moyer's medical bills.
