Local volunteers to help in flood-ravaged South

Rochester, N.Y. -- Two American Red Cross volunteers from the Rochester area left Thursday for Mississippi and Arkansas to help out the flood-ravaged areas.

Robert Barton of Wayne County is heading to Mississippi. He's been a disaster response team leader for more than 20 years.

Dr. Alvanti Santos of Brighton is traveling to Little Rock, Arkansas. Santos is a cardiologist in the Rochester area.

Volunteer Thomas Wallace will also be deploying soon, though his plans haven't been finalized. Another volunteer, Ferris Todd, was scheduled to leave for Little Rock Friday morning.
