Local student competing in National Spelling Bee

Washington -- A middle school student from Wayne County is hoping to spell his way to success Tuesday.

Gavin Buehler, 13, of Williamson will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., beginning Tuesday. He advanced to the national spelling bee after correctly spelling "Hemerocallus" at the Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES Regional Spelling Bee earlier this year.

He will compete in a preliminary round by computer Tuesday. If he advances, he'll meet other spellers on stage Wednesday.
