RPO plays at iconic Carnegie Hall
New York -- Wednesday is a big night for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, performing on stage at the iconic Carnegie Hall as part of the Spring for Music Festival.
The RPO invited 13WHAM's Norma Holland and photojournalist John McClintock along for the journey.
Wednesday's performance answers the question, 'How do you get to Carnegie Hall?'
When it comes to this music festival, the music needs to be innovative, and Howard Hanson's "Merry Mount" fits the bill.
The RPO is one of only six orchestras performing in this festival this week.
There will be almost 300 musicians and chorus members from the Eastman-Rochester and Bach Children's Chorus on stage.
In the audience, there will be more than 700 people from Rochester who traveled to see it all.
Susan Luedde and her daughter made the trek because Susan won the trip in an RPO raffle. She and her daughter are turning the trip into mother-daughter adventure.
The last time "Merry Mount" was performed on stage was 80 years ago.
