RPD holding public meeting on changes

Rochester, N.Y. -- City residents will have a chance to weigh in on proposed changes to the Rochester Police Department Tuesday.

The first of five public meetings to discuss reorganizing patrols is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Ryan Community Center on Webster Avenue.

The new model would reorganize the patrols from the departments current east-west divide to five patrol sections throughout the city by 2015.

The goal would be to build better relationships between officers and neighbors to combat violence.
