STORM AFTERMATH: Parts of Fairport flooded

Fairport, N.Y. - Main Street opened back up Saturday, but it's only the beginning for residents nearby who were evacuated after their basements flooded Friday night.

"It's like starting all over again," said Paula Santirocco, was had to evacuate from her home. "When I moved here, I had to remove half of my possessions and now another half of my possessions were sort of removed for me."

Santirocco had to stay with her mother overnight and salvaged what she can Saturday.

She holds onto her most valued possession - a picture of her late father - with relief.

"It's just amazing that it survived," said Santirocco. "I picked up this box and water just gushed and gushed and gushed out of it and the picture is fine."

About five to six businesses on Liftbridge Lane were also closed from flooding.

"Any business that had power cut, every effort will be made to get them back in business this weekend as soon as possible," said Mayor Fritz May.

Mayor May said they're also working on residential neighborhoods, but that may take a little more time.
