Bath man arrested after 8 month long investigation

Bath, N.Y. A Bath man has been arrested on charges of criminal possession of stolen property, offering a false instrument for filing and grand larceny following an eight month investigation by New York State Police and the Steuben County Department of Social Services welfare fraud unit.

According to investigators, Noel Campbell, 29, stole a piece of farm equipment from a home in the Town of Cameron, then sold it for scrap in the Town of Wheeler.

Campbell was selling scrap metal when he was getting food stamps and failed to report the scrap metal sales to the Department of Social Services. He received over $2,000 in food stamps that he was not entitled to get, investigators said.

Campbell is scheduled to appear in both the Town of Wheeler Court and the Village of Bath Court.
