GOP members criticize Afghanistan plan

Washington (AP) -- President Barack Obama's plan to draw down U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan has drawn criticism from three Senate Republicans.

The president said today that about 10,000 troops will remain after this year and that virtually all will be withdrawn by 2016.

Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte charge that setting a timetable is "a monumental mistake." The president's plan mirrors Pentagon recommendations.
