Mendon man dies in canoe accident

Honeoye Falls, N.Y. -- A 21-year-old man died from his injuries Saturday night after falling out of a canoe in Honeoye Falls.

Andrew Primerano of Mendon was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies said Primerano, Peter Pastilli and Brandon Maillie took their aluminum canoe to the lower falls in Honeoye Falls to ride the creek to the Plans Road Bridge where they had parked their car.

The canoe capsized during the boat ride. All three went into the water behind Sibley Road.

Pastilli and Maillie were able to get out of the water, but Primerano failed to resurface.

He was found by firefighters tangled up in underwater debris and fallen trees.

Primerano was given medical attention after being pulled from the water and taken to Strong.
