Alaskan wildfire spreads

Anchorage, Alaska (AP) -- Authorities have been going door to door telling people who live near a huge Alaska wildfire to evacuate.

About 1,000 structures have been ordered cleared due to the massive fire south of Anchorage that covers nearly 243 square miles in the forest of the Kenai Peninsula.

The Alaska Interagency Incident Management Team said the fire is 30 percent contained. The evacuation area consists mostly of second homes and is also home to many retirees.
