Students help beautify two city schools

Rochester, N.Y. -- More than one hundred students from Penfield High School skipped class Thursday, but it was for good reason.

They volunteered for a day of caring at two Rochester elementary schools.

They did some landscaping and other service activities.

"It's nice for our guys to make a connection with the city," says Paul Gabbey, a Penfield teacher. "I'm a city parent and I think its important for kids in Penfield - they're all from the suburbs to make a bond. We're only twenty minutes away here, but to bring the areas together is so important."

"It represents the caring and compassionate individuals that make up Penfield Schools," added Jonathan Aranob, a student at Penfield.
