Family statement on SUNY Geneseo student death
Geneseo, N.Y. -- Police are investigating the death of a SUNY Geneseo sophomore who was found dead at off campus housing on Sunday.
Alex Davis, 20, was from Victor.
Below is a statment from his family to the media.
Statement to the media from the family of Alex P.Davis
We have chosen not to speak to the media at this time as we mourn the loss of our beloved son and brother, Alex P. Davis. We appreciate the positive stories regarding Alex and his short, but impactful, time with us. We also appreciate the outpouring of love from the Victor community, our family and friends.
Alex lived his life to the fullest, and reminded us every day to do the same. He was a caring young man, not just at home but in the community. He showed this by volunteering in his church and with the Special Olympics.
At Victor High School, Alex challenged himself athletically and academically every day. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Boys State and International Model UN. He was on the varsity wrestling, lacrosse and football teams, and served as the wrestling captain his senior year.
Alex competed on the SUNY Geneseo lacrosse team where he was a biomedical major, with hopes of becoming a physician. He also loved golf and thoroughly enjoyed the many rounds of golf that he played with his father, his grandfather, his brother, his uncles and friends. He outdrove them all!
Despite all of these achievements, his largest accomplishment was being a loving and caring part of our family, and a loyal friend to his peers. We will remember him for his kind and loving spirit and his sense of humor.
Thursday, May 8th at 7pm, the Victor Lacrosse team will remember Alex in one of his favorite places, the Victor Lacrosse Field.
While you are welcome to attend the Victor Lacrosse game, this is the only statement the family will make. The calling hours and funeral for Alex will be for friends and family and we ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.
