Special Glasses for the Air Force in Rochester
Rochester, N.Y. (AP) - The US. Air force will be seeing things more clearly thanks to ArtCraft Optical lenses.
The Department of Defense will grant a contract to ArtCraft Optical to create special glasses designed specifically for the U.S. Air force worth 22.5 million on Wednesday.
According to Senator Chuck Schumer, the glasses will be made in Henriettas manufacturing facility and will support 50 employees.
"This military contract is another big win for Rochester," said Schumer. "It will bring job-supporting work to the community and promote Rochesters reputation as a national leader in optic technology and manufacturing."
According to Vice President of ArtCraft Optical, Christopher Eagle, he is excited to open up the business in Western New York and even more excited to see it expand.
"This is extremely welcome news for our entire workforce. We appreciate Senator Schumer's continued support" Said Eagle. "It is great to see the pride that our employees show in the work they do and we are very pleased to be continuing to employ and grow our manufacturing facility in Western New York."
ArtCraft Optical has been providing quality frames in Rochester since 1918 and has been the main provider of the aviation flight frames since 1991.
