Irondequoit man convicted of producing child pornography
Rochester, N.Y. - An Irondequoit man was convicted by a jury of production and possession of child pornography and transporting a minor across state lines with the intention to engage in sexual activity, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Michael Schluter, 45, will face 15-30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case goes back to 2009 when a minor reported being sexually abused by Schluter. According to the U.S. Attorney's office, Schluter took pornographic photos of a minor in July 2008.
Schluter also took the victim from Massachusetts to Vermont in 2007 in order to rape the minor.
"Thanks to the jury's verdict in this case, this defendant will now serve a lengthy sentence for his despicable actions," U.S> Attorney William Hochul, Jr. said in a statement. "The defendant, who sought to take away the innocence of a child, instead succeeded only in losing his own freedom - if not forever, then certainly for a very long period of time."
Schluter will return to court for sentencing at a later date.
