Governors make bet on Stanley Cup

Albany, N.Y. -- A few Western New York businesses will be featured in the Taste NY gift basket from Gov. Andrew Cuomo to California Gov. Jerry Brown if the Los Angeles Kings win the Stanley Cup.

The governors announced a bet Tuesday on the Stanley Cup Finals between the Kings and the New York Rangers

If the Rangers win, Brown will send Cuomo a copy of "California: A History" by Kevin Starr, along with Lumberg Organic Brown Rice Cakes.

If The Kings win, Cuomo will send a gift basket and a commemorative hockey puck from the 2013 "Hat Trick" of three on-time budgets in a row.

The gift basket will include Buffalo wing sauce from the Anchor Bar, as well as a bottle of 2011 Vidal Blanc Ice Wine from Leonard Oakes Estates Winery in Orleans County and a bottle of 2012 Vidal Blanc Ice Wine from Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards in Schuyler County.

"Given the tough, New York-resilient spirit with which the Rangers have advanced through the playoffs so far, I am wagering big on the Broadway Blueshirts with a Taste NY Basket of some of New York's finest products," Cuomo said in a statement. "Together with one of New York's biggest Ranger fans, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, we look forward to receiving the proceeds of Governor Brown's wager."

The first game of the Stanley Cup Finals starts at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
