Jury deliberations begin in murder trial
Rochester, N.Y. -Jury deliberations began Tuesday morning in the trial of a Rochester man accused of murdering two men and trying to kill a Rochester police officer.
Within the first hour of deliberation the jury sent a note to a judge asking for a list of elements for each of the crimes charged.
The judge ordered the jury to specify which elements they want read back.
Strong testified Monday that he did not intend to kill anyone at the Network nightclub in June 2013, nor did he intend to hurt Sergeant Flamur Zenelovic several days later.
Strong was on the stand for nearly four hours, Monday, telling jurors that he feared for his friend's safety while at Network, after two men allegedly made advances toward women who were with him, as well as made threats toward him.
Strong also admitted to shooting both men, including shooting one in the back while he lay face down in an alley.
Four days after the incident, when Strong was confronted by Zenelovic, he said that he wanted to surrender, but he didn't.
"If he felt he needed to surrender, he made decisions all along the way for days at a time not to surrender," said prosecutor Paul Vacca.
If convicted Strong faces life in prison without parole.
