Homestead for Hope is semi-finalist in contest

Spencerport, N.Y. - The stakes are very high for a special group in the Spencerport area.

Homesteads for Hope was founded by Jenny Rae Brongo for her brother Charles who has autism.

Brongo hopes this will be a future school, home and workplace for those with autism and other disorders.

"I'm trying to develop a sustainable agricultural community, here on my uncle's farm," said Brongo.

Homesteads for Hope is a semi-finalist in a contest sponsored by Guaranteed Rate Mortgage Company and Ty Pennington from Extreme Makeover. The "Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge" awards the winner with $50,000.

The group is submitting a three minute video to help better tell its story and vision.
