RPD investigating violence against Nepali community
The Rochester Police Department is investigating attacks and harassment in the Nepali community.
Police said a group of Nepali individuals were harassed while playing soccer in Edgerton Park on June 25. In the days that followed, investigators said someone threw bricks through a window, damaged a vehicle, stole an iPad and sunglasses.
Two juveniles were charged with Robbery 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. The cases will be handled in Family Court.
The Rochester Police Department has contacted U.S. Attorney William Hochul, Jr. in hopes of getting help on the Federal level to deal with this ongoing problem.
RPD is also scheduling a crime prevention meeting with members of the community to educate them on how to protect themselves and work with police.
