Mastermind in massive fraud case dies

Fort Worth, Texas -- John Nicolo, the mastermind behind a multimillion-dollar fraud in the Rochester area, has died in prison.

Nicolo, a former Yates County appraiser, defrauded the town of Greece, Eastman Kodak Co., and other local companies.

Nicolo worked with an assessor to lower the value of commercial properties and was paid how much he saved Kodak in property taxes.

Nicolo was serving a 12-year sentence at a federal prison in Texas.

He was 81.
