Local golf courses 'bogey' in NYS audit

Rochester, N.Y. - New York State auditors have finished their report into the operation of three public golf courses in Monroe County by a private contractor.

The audit found that county officials failed to properly manage or enforce the contract with Jack Tindale Inc. - on everything from keeping tabs on financial arrangements like cost-benefit analysis-- to not requiring annual reports.

Monroe County is ending their contract with Tindale in December - after at least three years of complaints from golfers on the courses' conditions.

The county will take back maintenance duties of the three courses starting in 2015.
