Rochester man to stand trial for two incidents
Rochester, N.Y. The man accused of shooting a Rochester police officer days after committing two murders will stand trial for both incidents later this month.
Ralph Strong, Jr. was arrested in June 2013 after a chase and shootout with Rochester police in the area of Goodman and Norton streets.
Strong was shot in the exchange, as was Rochester Police Sergeant Flamur Zenelovic. The two men survived the encounter.
Days prior to the incident, Strong was the gunman in the shooting death of two men outside a Central Avenue night club, police said.
Strongs lawyer asked a judge to order two separate trials for these incidents, but that request was denied in court Friday.
Strongs trial is set to begin in two weeks, with jury selection expected to begin the week of June 16.
Two women, Tiarra Feliciano and Lawana Strong-Minter, are accused of helping hide Strong from police.
They were supposed to stand trial with him. The judge ordered separate trials for the women on Friday. They are scheduled to stand trial in October.
