Active shooter drill at MCC
Brighton, N.Y. - Multiple police agencies participated in a full-scale active shooter drill at Monroe Community College Friday.
For the first time, local, county, state, and federal agencies worked together and were part of the drill that simulated an active shooter in various scenarios on campus.
250 people participate, 50 of them student victims that portrayed the wounded.
Another real life detail was an announcement that could be heard across campus warning of an active shooter.
The drill evaluated police response times, how various agencies responded together, and the procedures taken.
"The exercise will not only look at the law enforcement approach but how do we work with emergency and medical services," says Chief Mark Henderson with the Brighton Police Department. "You can talk about it. You can look at it on paper, you can practice it on the tabletop, but to see it unfold in front of you, that's what today is all about."
