Late trooper being laid to rest Tuesday

Port Dickinson, N.Y. -- Funeral services for a state trooper killed during a traffic stop last week will be held Tuesday.

Christopher Skinner, 42, died instantly Thursday when Almond Upton, 60, intentionally crashed his vehicle into him on Interstate 81 in Chenango, just north of Binghamton, according to police. Upton was charged with first-degree murder.

Skinners funeral will take place in Port Dickinson, Broome County. Flags on state government buildings will be flown at half-staff in Skinners memory Tuesday.

Skinner was a 13-year veteran of the New York State Police, including several years with Troop E in Canandaigua. Skinner is survived by his fianc and two children.
