Late officer to be laid to rest

Penfield, N.Y. -- Funeral services will be held for a former Rochester police officer who died after a crash on the way to the hospital for a medical emergency in Greece last week.

Felicia Gilchrist, 43, was being rushed to Unity Hospital by her father when their car crashed at the intersection of Long Pond and Latta roads the night of May 27.

Gilchrist later died at the hospital from natural causes. Her family said the crash did not contribute to her death.

Her funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Browncroft Community Church in Penfield.

Gilchrist suffered from several health complications after she was injured in a hit-and-run crash while on the job on Culver Road in 2001.

She is survived by a 6-year-old daughter, her parents and seven siblings.
