Murder suspect testifies at trial

A Rochester man on trial, accused of killing two men and shooting a police officer, testified Monday.

Ralph Strong Jr. is accused of killing Jahmia Singleton, 31, and Reggie Johnson, 27, outside a nightclub on Central Ave on June 24, 2013.

Strong, 31, is also accused of shooting Sergeant Flemur Zenelovic while trying to avoid arrest three days later.

Strong testified Monday that Singleton and Johnson were threatening him outside the nightclub.  Strong says Singleton told him, in essence, I rob people like you.

Strong says he shot at them after he saw Johnson fumbling with his waistband and shirt.  Strong claims he was trying to surrender when Sergeant Zenelovic shot him.

Strong testified that he fired at Sergeant Zenelovic after he was hit. An innocent bystander was hit in the crossfire.  Strong says he didnt want to hurt anybody.

He faces two counts of first-degree murder, attempted aggravated murder, aggravated assault of a police officer, assault and reckless endangerment.
