Five NATO troops killed in Afghanistan

Zabul Province, Afghanistan - The Pentagon is investigating an incident in a southern region of Afghanistan in which five NATO troops and an Afghani soldier were killed.

ABC News reports that the incident may have been caused by friendly fire.

Government leaders said that the troops were performing a joint operation when they came under heavy enemy fire. The U.S. forces called in an airstrike but, due to a miscommunication, the blast struck too close, killing them.
