State of emergency declared

Richmond, N.Y. Rain continued to fall overnight and through Monday morning across much of Western New York, and Ontario County took a fair share of it.

A state of emergency was declared for the Richmond/Honeoye area at an emergency board meeting due to all the damage.

At least four roads had to be partially closed down because of water. Some of the roads crumbled, cracked and even collapsed as the rain continued to fall.

According to the Richland Fire Chief, at least 20 people had to be helped out of their homes due to all the water.

The Richmond supervisor told 13WHAM News that the rain likely caused at least $400,000, and that the town board has already applied for state money to help with repairs.
